[mythtv-users] Broadcast Solution

Yes, I realize this is MythTV...my apologies, I originally posted this message on MediaPortal and received no response...

I don't care about the underlying OS (OK, I don't entirely care), but I need the functionality...I've searched and queried for a broadcast automation solution - there are tons of open source Radio automation systems out there, but I can't find any (working) TV ones.

For scheduling, here's what I am talking about...

The system needs to be set up that a (non PC-Expert) user can create a playlist to be played between the hours of 7AM to 5PM. The playlist will include vidoes (locally and professionally created) and should be able to include still images (the audio over still images was a last minute idea I added to the message). This playlist will be played through the GeForce TV OUT to a (regulator? Adapter? the exact name escapes me) that will provide the video/audio to our internal TV system...

It would be helpful if, in the playlist, we could "schedule" a display of current weather...most of our waiting rooms are interior rooms and the patients have no ability to see the weather...here in Tornado central (Oklahoma) this is of importance to our visitors...

Hope this helps...

Firstly, you know this is a MythTV list, not MediaPortal, don't you?

> Schedule and Play Videos
Schedule no. Play yes. MythTV has records on schedule, but playback is
on demand. There might be a way of scheduling by hacking up a script.
Or others might have some more concrete suggestions.

> Schedule and Show Still Images (with background music)
Schedule no. Show still images yes. With background music no.

> Schedule and Display Weather Information
Schedule no. Display yes. I think I'm starting to become uncertain
about what you actually mean by "schedule" here.

> Keep the menu, controls, and a preview screen on the integrated video card
and pipe the full-screen video/image display to the nVidia display...
Don't know - but sounds like a dual display type setup to me and I
would have thought this would be possible in some way with X-Windows.
