[mythtv-users] Wakeup using acpi instead of nvram

Michelle,

I have MythTV working with MythWelcome, MythSuspend/wakeup and Suspend2 (now known as TuxOnIce!) using ACPI. Unfortunately, I won't have time to respond in any detail before next week, so I realize it's like dangling a carrot in front of a starving critter ;-(. Here is a blast from the firehose. Hope it helps. If not, let me know and I'll get back to you when I can.

First, I run Fedora Core 6 and have mythbackend running as a daemon from a script in /etc/init.d (linked to /etc/rc?.d/S##mythbackend), so the backend is running as root. This is important for some of the settings below, eliminating the need to wrestle with sudo. I could do it, but why bother? ;-)

Secondly, my system clock is configured to run in UTC so it handles DST adjustments automatically, so all the time manipulations assume this is the case. --You'll see why I'm manipulating time values soon enough ;-).

In MythTV-Setup:
  Shutdown/Wakeup Options:
    Wakeup time format: yyyy-MM-ddThh:mm
    Set wakeuptime command: /usr/bin/mythshutdown
    Server halt command: /usr/bin/mythshutdown --shutdown
Pre Shutdown check-command: /usr/local/bin/ShutdownCheck (script I wrote -- see below)

In Mythwelcome setup (# mythwelcome -s will get you there):
  nvram-wakeup Command: /usr/local/bin/SetAlarm (another script I wrote)
  nvram-wakeup Restart Command: <blank / empty / null / nada>
Command to reboot: /usr/local/bin/Shutdown (script #3) [reboot definition is redundant on my system, but...]
  Command to shutdown: /usr/local/bin/Shutdown "

Also, note that /usr/local/bin/Shutdown calls another script called /usr/local/bin/fillmythdatabase.

There are references to fixes I needed to do in /etc/init.d/halt, but I believe I posted that to the list about a month ago.

Suspend2 took a bit to get configured, but most, and I'm pretty sure *all* of that, was in /etc/hibernate/xxx scripts which are well commented. If you're using FC, Axel has appropriate RPMs ready to go within a few days of the release of new kernels and Mathias Hensler maintains a very helpful webpage and repository.

I pasted all the scripts in here and ended up with a 384 line e-mail. Thought better of that and will include the scripts as attachments. If they don't come through, send me back a message and I'll either send them direct or try to figure out how to do it right the second time ;-)

Craig.
