I found upgrading my switch to gigabit (with gigabit cards on both my
backend and frontend) allowed live tv to work like a charm with both
my two Aver A180's and my two firewire connected cable boxes when with
my 100bT switch it never worked. Don't understand that at all, but for
$40 for an 8port D-Link with Jumbo Frame support I won't complain.
I don't know why live tv takes more processing power than recording it
and watching the recording live, but it does.
