I had problems getting this to work on Ubuntu... not quite sure why.  It
was losing the first half of each line when reading in the results from
the initial DB query.

Anyhow to get it working, I wound up rewriting it as a Perl script, and
I've posted it on the mythtv wiki at
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/Generatevideothumbs.pl

Hope it's helpful for folks.  Running this as a cron job seems to be
pretty useful if you're frequently adding videos.
