There was no problem when the original recording was played either
before or after marking the starts and endings of the commercials, using
my computer for playback. I burned it 3 times and the problem was there
each time. Yes, it happened on two different players.

Interestingly, I edited the recording using Avidemux and, apart from
some occasional audio/video out-of-synch, there was no sound loss on the
DVD produced. Perhaps I must just put it down to experience.
