Thanks for the replies. Perhaps I should give more information. I am in
the UK and I do all the editing and burning using the facilities
available within Mythtv. I have never had trouble with audio/video synch
and only once, so far, had a problem with audio. What happened was that
about half way through playing the DVD the audio signal disappeared and
did not return. It had been suggested that this could have been caused
by multiple audio signals, what ever that maybe, that could have
affected the processing prior to the burning stage, hence my interest in
how Mythtv detects when commercials start and finish. As far as I could
tell, the sound disappeared about 100 secs before the start of a batch
of commercials.
