you don't need binary drivers made for gentoo. There are ebuilds in gentoo that take an rpm made for fedora or redhat and can install the package from it easily.

that's lame because almost everyone who uses a card from Nvidia and runs gentoo, ends up running binary drivers from nvidia. I use a card from nvidia under gentoo and get the best performance that the card can get.

Gentoo, for obvious reasons.  If you want good video performance with
Gentoo you're probably going to have to pick a card that has a driver
with source code available, and that's not anything made by Nvidia.
