And depending on what your wife "needs" XP for you might be able to  
use Wine, or even run Windows under qemu, which is pretty fast with  
the kqemu module.

There are a lot of solutions for somebody who "needs" windows, and  
xen is not a particularly stable, fast or mature one. As Boleslaw  
said vmware may well be your best answer.
