[mythtv-users] Multi channel audio support patch

Hi,
I just tried to use the multi channel audio patch (#1104) on both
-fixes and -trunk. It doesn't cleanly apply to either branches. What
is it created for, -fixes or for HEAD?

Does anyone have a cleanly applying patch?

Is MythTV able to automatically recognize AC3 without using
ALSA:surround51 as output with this patch? I still use mplayer
whereever possible in MythTV because this correctly plays 5.1 on all
speakers.

Do you guys know the reason why this patch hasn't been applied for ages?
