I wondered why you were using XFS. If it's the long erase time  
problem JFS will help that, as will the "slow erases" in Myth 0.20.

One problem with the slow erases though is that it only helps when  
Myth itself is doing the erasing, if you are erasing from another app  
you can still have problems.
