It really sounds like a combination xfs + nfs issue to me, IIRC both
have had some locking performance issues, especially nfs which I
believe have been resolved in recent kernels, but the combination
could be making things worse.
Just to be clear, is your server just doing nfs/file serving duties or
does it also have the recorders, or does your frontend also have the
recorders in it?
