Yea, I haven't had a problem getting the SPDIF (digital) out or ALSA
working. I can get everything to output through the digital coax and I
can get AC3 to pass through with 2 channels of audio, but when I send a
5.1 stream (from an ISO ripped DVD, MythDVD, or anything directly
through mplayer) I either get static or no sound at all. The ALSA
User-List hasn't been of much assistance either as everyone keeps
sending me the same URL as above and it hasn't fixed the problem no
matter how many times I read it. Getting AC3 pass through working with
Myth shouldn't be this difficult. I have a Turtle Beach Riviera card
sitting here too that a lot of people say should work great but I can't
seem to find a soul on these lists with either card and FC6 that have it
pushing 5.1 successfully through the digital output. I just don't
understand... I mean, if I'm successfully sending all signals out to
ALSA:spdif (and ALSA:default for music) on the card, why in the world am
I essentially going mute the moment I turn on AC3 pass through in Myth?
I have hooked a normal DVD player up to the receiver and it flips into
DOLBY DIGITAL and 5.1 works great so I'm almost certain that it's the
output from the front end Myth system and not the receiver itself. I'm
just over this issue and have spent way to much time trying to resolve
it... I just want a piece of hardware that is known working in my type
of setup. You had better believe that if I ever get this Revolution 7.1
or the Riviera working I'll be doing a write-up on it for the Wiki.
Thank you for trying to help... I really do appreciate it, I'm just
extremely frustrated right now.
