That is correct. When I was still using a ext3-based NAS for my MythTV
recordings, I dealt with this by having mythbackend to keep original
files after transcoding and then periodically deleting *.old files
when not recording anything else. JFS and other more-sophsticated
filesystems deletes even multi dozen-terabyte files instantly, so this
isn't an issue.
