What about the delete issue?  I understand that slow delete
functionality has been added to MythTV to work around that misfeature of
ext3, but I've heard that transcode jobs still do normal, blocking deletes.

The only filesystem I've ever had eat data was ReiserFS, but that was a
combination of a somewhat fragile filesystem and bad hardware.
