About the smooth scrolling. I also had an unreadable jumping scrolling
text and with my new installation I found out that it had to do with
my Deinterlacing algorithm. I now choosed "Bob" and the text is way
smoother*.

I have no idea if this really covers your problem (it's late, maybe I
didn't read good :-) ), but maybe it helps improving the picture
quality.

* The OSD is a bit noisy with this algorithm, though.
