When I upgrade or reinstall I usually follow 
http://www.mythtv.org/docs/mythtv-HOWTO-23.html#ss23.7
The "moving data to new hardware" steps. Should get your recording 
schedule, previously recorded, seek tables, and other information about 
you recorded shows.
