It either has enough value to use the service they offer, or it
doesn't.  That's your choice and my choice.

With a service available for a relatively low fee (hopefully) there
will be very little incentive for competent programmers to develop
some sort of free screen scraper app, which I think is the only other
option for listings after 9/1 in the US.  I know that if I wanted to
hack on something, it wouldn't be a screen scraper to save me a couple
bucks a month.  I'd pay the couple bucks and hack on something much
more fun, like the multi-rec branch or something.  I'm betting that a
lot of people are in the same boat.  If I'm wrong then a screen
scraper app will pop-up somewhere for us to use.

Anyway,  get a prepaid Visa to protect your assets and sign-up to
schedules direct, or don't.  But if someone at paypal ganks your
number, your only out however much the Visa card was prepaid at, which
can be as low as you like.  That can't be any more difficult than
getting a MO and mailing for $0.43.  They sell these things at the
CircleK on every corner around here.
