[mythtv-users] Alternatives to Supporting schedulesdirect.org

My wife and I have several credit cards in the $20k area with 45 day grace periods. We pay them off every month so no loan.

I do like the prepaid card idea though. I might have to use that one for the guide data stuff when it becomes available.

I, for one, appreciate very much what the schedulesdirect guys are trying to do. If we compensate a group of guys (and maybe gals to) at least for the bandwidth and server time they're tying up, then we're far more likely to get a quality product that works. Of all the possible solutions I've heard, including several of my own, this is, by far, the best plan.

I just hope my KnoppMyth box won't croak trying to use it although I've been thinking about going a different route with the system.

I think the safest thing a person could do is to get some sort of prepaid credit card, and use it like a wallet.. don't put more money in it than you can stand to lose. I'd just as soon not have someone max out a CC with a $15K limit...

Since when did consumers lose when a CC number is stolen? You just call the CC company and tell them to reverse the charges. Really, the only people who get screwed in this situation are the merchants (and for the record, they get screwed *hard*).

Meanwhile, I'd just as soon never have a CC with a $15K limit. Who wants a 15K loan at ~18% (or more) interest?

  Brett.
