Best is to first build your FE on a local drive, and once you are
satisfied, boot from a live CD and DD the entire drive to an NFS share and
follow the diskless ubuntu howto on the wiki:

Good luck!
(PS: Don't be cheap on harddisk space... Large drives are cheap nowadays,
and you'll need lots of it once you really start using MythTV!)
