Actually, it was our last thread on this topic that made me imply that
it works with or without auto-skip (
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/217407#217407 , where
the relevent issues start with Chris Pinkham's post at
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/217459#217459 ).
As mentioned in that thread, if auto-skip is off (i.e. it's set to
notify), it definitely works.
However, it seems that no-one made the changes that Chris Pinkham had
mentioned (
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/217500#217500 ) so
that it would work with auto-skip enabled. I thought I remembered
someone having coded a patch and it being committed (and didn't feel
like changing my config to auto-skip and testing it), but I was wrong.
Maybe next time I get some Myth-hacking time, I'll code up the patch so
I'm right next time this comes up...
BTW, you didn't re-enable your gencutlist job (
http://www.gossamer-threads.com/lists/mythtv/users/229126#229126 ), did
you? ;)

I'd admit to being lazy more often, but it's too much work.
