Currently, there are just one be/fe and one fe.

I would like to be able to record 3 shows, while watching 1 or 2 others, all 
in SD (no HD available at my location for let's say the next 2-3 years).

I would like to avoid having my be/fe running 24x7, in order to save power. 
The NAS-server would be responsible for waking up the backend when needed 
(unfortunately, the BIOS of my backend doesn't let me set a date for waking 
up, just time).

That's why I got interested in those appliances. I have also read about the 
Infrant ReadyNAS, which seemed to be in use at some myth-users, but they are 
a little bit pricier than the mentioned Synology and Thecube.
