Thanks.  Two of those link seem to describe the same problem.  The other is similar.  The ticket #2429 was opened for this issue, and promptly closed after the effect being deemed "normal".  I dissagree.  Maybe I'm missing some protocol here, but I'd like it fixed too.  First I'd like to understand why it's considered normal, and second, I'd like to be able to watch a deinterlaced program.

Also, how can I take control of "video scan detection".  I see no option for it.
