.nuv was a generic file extension that older versions of mythtv would
add to recordings. Now it "correctly" identifies mpeg files with
a .mpg extension. Correctly is a loose term since it was correct
before, but now Windows is happier if you want to copy the files over
and use them there. bottom line is that they were probably always mpg
files just saved with a .nuv extension.
No idea on what settings to use for transcode settings. Seems to me
it's always been a trial and error thing. You're trying to get to
700MB. For what? An hour? Half hour? Poke around for a calculator
online to determine resolution as compared to file size for mpeg4 video.
