if you get to the list of encode options and they're all disabled, i'd say
there's no point trying to figure out the errors. probably because the copy
of ffmpeg you have has all the options disabled for whatever reason (was it
from a package?) try find a newer package. err.. guess i'm not much help...

what distro are you using? there might be a transcode package for it
somewhere, saves compiling frustrations. i got exactly the same message when
i tried :o(

read that and though "mythwha?!". heh. read this:
http://www.mythtv.org/wiki/index.php/MythArchive anndd... looks to be
bascially, it takes exactly what's in myth and backs it up (recording, meta
data, subs, titles, info, cutlists, *everything*). only stuff it does extra
is either transcode to dvd compliant file if needed, and add menus and
things. probably pretty useful if you're an info whore and want to retain
every single thing myth gave you for your fav movie, and may well allow you
to put it back into myth if needed.

nuvexport will take *only* the video (and audio, obviously), put it in the
format you require (with various lil options like deinterlacing/cropping
edges/using cutlist) and you can then use that on its own. basically gives
you something like you could download from the net. if you wish to put it
into a dvd compliant format you can, but *all* you'll have is the video. if
you want the info or subs or anything else you'll need to get that some
other way (subs can be demuxed and converted to srt or something with quite
a bit of hastle, info can be written down, as can edit points i guess... ).

anyway, i've never used nuvexport for making a dvd, always for making
smalled cd sized files. mytharchive is prolly pretty good if you have the
storage space, but i'd wanna wait for bluray or something if i wanted to
stick unedited 3 hour movies and whatnot onto a single disc.
