This is not definitive at this point, but that's what it's looking like.
I am certain we will get the matter straightened out sooner or later.
There are many advantages of mpeg4, as you pointed out. Not only less
space required but in the case of network mounts the traffic is
reduced. I think it makes 802.11 more viable for connecting a frontend.
I have a couple of SMC devices that are similar to the MediaMVP but
have wireless networking built-in and can apparently decode mpeg-4.
It's on my list to see if I can get them to work with Myth, but this
won't happen anytime soon.
Perhaps a bit over-priced, I think the Plextors are very nice units.
Refurbs are on the market at reasonable cost, competitive with the PVRs.
