Yeah, I've set my alarm :-) (another clash, so I'll either watch live or
put it no LiveTV [which still always works through DVB] then hit 'R' to record
it; *that* also always works OK. Course, I have to be there to trigger it.).

LiveTV always works flawlessly through the DVB. It's only scheduled
recordings which fail to generate an actual file (with no errors).

I tried the 'on-demand' setting last night, but it didn't help: the next
recoring disappeared as expected. “Turn of signal monitoring” ... where is
that? I'll have a look & a try. What side effects might I expect?

Ditto :O, hence my exasperation. Next stop is likely going to have to be
adding my own debug to the code.

I know, it makes no sense.

It may be worth a try, but it was quite laborious, so it'll definitely be
the /last/ thing I try. I already somehow ended up with sources 1 & 3 not 1 &
2 by not being sure what I was doing as I set up DVB for the first time.

I did notice that I have managed to get one of the transport frequencies in
the transport list twice, but I'm not allowed to delete it [through the UI].
Can't see that that should be a problem, though.
