I didn't read "music channel" as MTV, but one of the cable digital music channels, and for those I think the guide is just one solid "Music" entry for the whole day, which means that the 10-12 hours mentioned would really be a single "show", and thus cause other shows to be expired to make room for it. Under the old way of doing things, the LiveTV would never have taken more room than the ringbuffer size, and thus would not have caused any shows to be autoexpired. Under the new way, it will cause shows to be autoexpired. Thus this poster does have a valid concern. However, it looks like his circumstances are probably far outside that of the normal user (most of whom probably don't even add the music channels to their guide listings). For the average user, the change would probably only make a difference of a single show being autoexpired that wouldn't have been under the old way of doing things. For this user, it can make up to a day's worth of programs difference.

I do wonder though, that with a system this full, with so many programs that are marked to allow autoexpire, and with the oldest programs being the first to go, if this poster would ever have found the time to watch all of these programs before they autoexpired under the old system anyway?

Jeff.
