I haven't done much, but I do know that it accepts RCA DVD remote codes.
I currently use a cheap RCA universal remote, and had only to define a
few extra buttons in the lircd.conf and .lircrc files.

The standard XBox remote sends RCA DVD codes, it just doesn't have
enough buttons - if you have a universal remote that you like, chances
are good that you can set it up as an RCA DVD player, and just do
standard lirc stuff to find out what the other buttons get received as
(if they get picked up at all)

I'll admit that I don't know much about it, because I just grabbed a
lircd.conf file for a similar remote to the one I have and grabbed codes
from there.
