I'm afraid I agree with Brian; this is not a kernel issue per se. If you go to a command line and type "modprobe nfs", does it error? Also at the command line, if you type "lsmod" then is "nfs" listed? If so, it's neither the kernel nor module.
Check your network is working properly (ping the remote host). You might also have a hung session on the server (presuming here the server didn't go down). You could restart the NFS services on the server and ensure that all the connections are cleared... or worst case reboot.
I honestly believe you're battling a probable network issue here, not software.

Subject: [mythtv-users] NFS Kernel problem
Not specifically MythTV related but it's preventing me
from starting MythTV. I have all my recordings nfs
mounted, and I have a power outage last night which
apparently corrupted the nfs part of my Kernel.
I'm running FC3, upgraded via apt-get. How can
I repair this (or find the specifics of nfs that are broken)
without rebuilding my whole system? I'm already
going through MythTV withdrawal, and I don't even
have anything scheduled to record tonight!
Could I just do an apt-get dist-upgrade to get the
nfs stuff back, while updating my system at the same time?
Oh, I'm going out htis morning to buy a UPS!
Thanks!
Paul
