You need to pass the password for the user (as well as know the password)
mysql -umythtv -p
It will then prompt for the password (and you will need to enter it)
If you installed mythtv already it probably generated one for this
user, and I think it can be found in usually
/etc/mythtv/mysql.txt
The file contains the username, password and database/host to connect
too. If your dir doesn't exist with this file, do a find or locate for
mysql.txt (then grab the password for the mythtv user out so you can
use it above).
