See http://bugs.debian.org/cgi-bin/bugreport.cgi?bug=313588 -- it seems
the official Debian package does not (yet) have the appropriate patch
applied.  I was surprised to see this, as I though I'd had it working
before, but maybe it's that my own patched packages got superseded by a
new official version.
