I don't think anyone responded to you, so here's my take, having experience 
with neither....
The Nvidia dongle will work, whether the quality is better than using the a 
VGA->Component converter will most likely depend on the devices you choose. 
As for compatability, the converter will be best and easiest to setup most 
likely, especially if it can take a 1080p signal and convert it to 1080i over 
component. I don't know what the success rate of the nvidia component cables 
are though.
You might want to buy both from retailers where you can return them, play with 
both to see which you like better, and then return the one you don't want.
