You're probably getting rtjpeg files from a bttv card. I don't think thouse
work on any platform/application outside of mythfronted. You can transcode
them to mpeg4 easy enough from mythfrontend by going to the recording then
job options start transcode. The transcode defaults aren't quite right but
you will get a .nuv with mpeg4 video and mp3 audio that you can at least
view, then tweak the trascode and/or set it to autotranscode.
