You did not say...but if it is a separate card, it should be active on
both outputs, unless, exactly like the BIOS thing, it needs to be turned
on or initialized. and it sounds like THAT is happening in X.
I presume you have an output line in xorg.conf which sets output to
something like 'CRT,TV'....how you get the 'TY' bit prior to then I do
not know.
