Ok, now look at it from the other point of view. I've been here maybe 18
months and I've seen this exact same discussion over and over again -
probably at least 6 times in that period. And every time it's the same:
1. Some user complains that channel changes are too slow (often in a
condescending way, e.g. "MythTV is crap because my channel changes take too
long").
2. The responses explain the situation with varying degrees of politeness.
Channel changes are slow because:
a. Many/most experienced users/devs don't use live TV so it's not a problem
for them
b. The problem is not trivial to fix
c. If you care so much, fix the issue
d. Or put a link to xawtv (or whatever) in the menus
3. Mostly this doesn't satisfy the people who have a problem with channel
changes and the whole thing disintergrates into "it's a huge problem" vs
"then fix it".

It's frustrating seeing this over and over again. It's frustrating when
users who have been given an awesome piece of software for free seem to
demand that other people should happily spend their time fixing issues they
don't have (or don't care about). It's frustrating when people seem to have
the attitude that people here have some sort of duty to promote MythTV and
provide good customer service. I'm happy to help anyone I can, but it's not
my job. Microsoft may well provide better support, but you pay for it. So if
you want better customer service for MythTV, find someone you can pay to
provide that service.
