[mythtv-users] No live video

Have been trying to watch live TV with MythTV using my Hauppauge 
DVB-S-Plus but with no success.  I *can* watch TV using szap and xine:

szap -a 0 -c skychannels.conf "CNN" phoenix -r

xine stdin://mpeg2 < /dev/dvb/adapter0/dvr0 -f

I have gone through the mythtv ubuntu setup instructions at 
http://parker1.co.uk/mythtv_ubuntu.php

The output of 'mythfronted -v all' follows, an interesting line being 
'Decoder not alive, and trying to play..' - I have tried to google on 
this but with no joy.
