[mythtv-users] mythtv setup problem

How are you calling "mythtv-setup"? From the console? Or from a 
terminal
window whilst logged into a window manager?
Is mike a root user? Does mike have full permissions to his home 
directory?
Have you ever run mythtv-setup from mike's home directory as a su'd 
root
user?
Does a mysql.txt file exist in the current home directory under the 
.mythtv
folder? What are its permissions?

You are right Steve it is a permissions problem. I changed the
permissions on mysql.txt in /home/mike/,mythtv and that enabled me to
enter the setup program. However, the database is not open; this is
part of my console display and yes I running this from a terminal
session on the myth box. mike is a root user, it is the user I
created when I installed Ubuntu. It looks like the mythtv user can't
open the database.  Not sure how to remedy that !
