I personally use Red Hat Fedora Core 4, because one of the best guides
for getting everything up and running is geared to that (wilsonet.com
-- Thanks again Jarod!).  There is also a very good update/maintenance
system with apt-get/yum/smart solutions.

I had been using debian prior to trying myth, but at that time, the
knoppmyth just wouldn't work on my system.  That was 3 or more years
ago, and since then it seems to have matured, so you may want to try
that as well.

But really, if you are comfortable on one distro, and know how to
compile your own stuff, then choose that one.  If you need
hand-holding, choose one of the two I mentioned above.
