I double checked it by tuning into a program that I knew would be encoded 
for surround sound and sure enough, there appears to only be 1 channel that 
is causeing the problem. All other stations are fine (I just happened to 
record the first surround sound program from that channel), but it is 
consistent with all programs on that channel. In case anyone is interested 
it is Showtime in the Louisville Metro area.
