Analog Stereo:
Two soundcards with 5.1 analog out. Each will then have 3 stereo
outputs, define the correct outputs in each hoe folder .asoundrc and
your set.

Digital Surround:
Considering some sound cards have more than one digital output the
number of soundcards needed will vary, but will follow the same
concept as above.

Mixes Analog Stereo/Digital Surround:
I think you get the idea....
