[mythtv-users] source being ignored?

i just trimmed down ~90% of the QAM channels off my mythtv list (not worth
getting, encrypted, etc).
now it appears that myth has basically ignored that feed...there are only 5
channels left in it that i want
my local fox is one of them...i also have an OTA card and a PVR500, so I'd
expect to see sunday's simpsons and monday's 24 listed 3 times in either
mythfrontend or mythweb's upcoming recordings screens (once per source)
however i now only see the OTA and analog sources listed, unless i go into
recording priorities and manually push the QAM fox channel up and leave the
others all equal (when i did that, all my recordings set to run on FOX
shifted ot the QAM channel by default..but i now could see the fox
recordings three times on mythweb's upcoming recordings page).
(did this make sense? i hope so)
what happened? why did i have to tweak a channel's recording priority to get
myth to acknowledge that it even existed as a possible source of recordings?
i've never had to do anything like this until i pruned down the unwanted
channels off my digital listings.
