[mythtv-users] Adjusting the sound offset when creating a DVD from a DVB-T recording

I've found that if I use the instructions on the MythTV web site to
create a DVD of a program recorded off a DVB-T transmission, the sound
is off by about half a second when I play the DVD - enough to make the
thing unwatchable.

It's also noticeable that when a large glitch occurs in a DVB stream, it
affects first the sound and then about half a second later it affects
the picture, so presumably the two are deliberately offset by this
length of time in the broadcast data stream, and something tells MythTV
how to play them in sync.

Is there any way of extracting this offset information from a DVB-T
recording and feeding it to mplex when building the DVD image? I've
managed to do it by trial and error, trying lots of different settings
like "-O 550ms" to mplex until I get the right one, but the actual value
needed seems to vary from recording to recording. I'm seeking a way of
automating the process.

Presumably I'm not the only one trying to archive DVB-T recordings on
DVD - how do others manage it?

TIA,
John
