FWIW it's worth, I see the same with Comcast in Boston area. I believe
the lower channels are the analogue channels, and are broadcast without
encryption. The higher channels are the digital cable channels, and
those are broadcast encrypted, which the STB decrypts. I don't know of
any way around that (but would love to hear of one).

Since you're going to have to use a STB to watch the digital cable
channels, try to get one with a firewire port enabled, although you may
have to go to the HD package for that. You can use that for the channel
changing - if you get a Moto 6200, Myth comes complete with scripts for
changing channels (somewhere in the setup stuff).
