I reinstalled ivtv and ran modules-update. I can modprobe saa7115, saa7127, 
msp3400, and tda9887 by hand. If I do that I can "cat /dev/video0 > 
test.mpeg" If I run test.mpeg in mplayer I get a screen filled with snow.
