Amen!

Seriously, one of the best ways to learn linux is to find a spare box
to play around with. Install two or three different distros to play
around with. Don't be afraid to reinstall if you hose it (but don't
resort to it on the slightest problem, try to fix it first - you'll
learn more). Pick a newbie friendly distro, but one that's Myth
friendly such as Fedora or Mandrake. Debian is also good to start
with, but it's not as install friendly. Ubuntu is catching up fast,
and the Myth support is too.
