I recently wired my whole house, cat5e and quad RG6 throughout, and
it's definitely the route to go. The cable is expensive but it's way
better than junk cable. I did the compression connectors, or rather,
my brother (a high end audio/video installer) did the job for me with
his tools and supplies. I also had the cable co re-run my aerial with
all new cable, it's something higher than RG6 too, I can't remember
what he called it.
While you're running wires, run cat5e/6 everywhere too. Very useful
for all kinds of cool stuff, even phone lines. Get the self crimping
jacks and you won't need any tools for that. :)
All I can say is, maybe borrow the tool from someone in the trade?
