Thanks to all that responded.  I found the setting in Mythfrontend to 
set my sound card.  It was set to /dev/dsp1.  I hope it will solve the 
problem but will not be home to test until next week.  I'll post my results.

And no, I'm using IceWM.  :)  I should have specified in my original email.
