I would like to get this sorted too.
I've just about got it right but it isn't perfect. I have a Sony 32"
Widescreen (PAL UK) connected to an nVidia 440MX via S-Video. I tried
fiddling with the X.org config and I think I have the aspect right but to get
the overscan working I'm using nvidia-settings. I have expanded the screen so
that the picture is slightly off the sides but annoyingly just short of the
top and bottom. If I move the slider any further I get too much side
overscan. Even as it currently stands the Myth menus can sometimes be off the
edge.
I tried a modeline generator which made the Myth menus fit better but TV was
then letterboxed(!) so I gave up on that.
The other final thing is I can't get it to run in 50Hz so it's stuck in PAL-60
all the time which means a bit more flicker than I would like.
If anyone out there has got a neat way of sorting these issues out for myself
and Dave above then I'm all ears. Well, eyes actually as this is email!
Thanks
