[mythtv-users] converting mythdvd transcode to smaller files

Hi all

I would like to convert the dvds that I transcode from the large >4gig
files to smaller files what would be the best tool to ues? I think it
could be between mencoder and transcode. Where could I get some good
doco on using the tools to convert the .vob files to avi or mpg?
