(Disclaimer: I work for a company in the video headend
space, and I've worked in the DOCSIS cable modem
industry for three years - those three years, being
regulated by CableLabs.)

I haven't read the documents at the link yet, but you
already know my opinions, as we've discussed them.

The cable industry in the U.S. is looking for the
cheapest possible way to continue with their monopoly
and aren't investing in the future at all.  They've
backed themselves into a corner that they just can't
escape from.  At least in Europe they're investing
heavily in the infrastructure and trying new things.

The U.S. cable operators will be hit hard by IPTV,
it's not a question of "if", it's a question of
"when".
